about

This is a song I wrote and recorded as a demo back in early 2020.
I wanted to write a fantasy concept song, and I ended up writing a story about a princess in a fantasy european setting that seemingly drowns herself in the Danube, but then her friends and family find out that she had used that as a means of escaping from her royal life.

lyrics

INTRO

VERSE 1
A woman higher than life,
Drowned at the sight of her fears.
Can she come back from her fate?
A powerful entity has awoken...

VERSE 2
Held back from her past,
Her late lovers will not suppress.
She was left alone,
A disaster in Budapest.
The divine aquatic palace,
Overwhelmed her privacy.
A beauty of golden hair,
Could never dream of such despair.

GUITAR SOLO

CHORUS
The Princess was taken by the Danube,
From the Black Forest to the Black Sea.
The Princess was taken by the Danube,
From the Black Forest to the Black Sea.
The Mermaids carried her body,
The currents brought her to life.

GUITAR SOLO

VERSE 3
Give her back the summer's breeze.
Her path is set to a new land.
Beyond the Black Sea,
A land free of monsters and dragons.
The Princess on the Danube.

VERSE 4
Where has my princess gone to?
She never said goodbye.
How did we hurt her?
I could never love another like her.
The Princess on the Danube.

GUITAR SOLO

CHORUS
The Princess was taken by the Danube,
From the Black Forest to the Black Sea.
The Princess was taken by the Danube,
From the Black Forest to the Black Sea.
The Knights rode in search and found,
A letter on a riverbank.

SPOKEN WORD
Goodbye father, goodbye mother.
Goodbye to my family, my lovers and my best friends.
I don't know where I am heading,
But the current surely knows.
I need a place to grow up,
And become the woman I wish myself to become.
I hope you will someday understand.
My life was cycle that needed breaking.

VERSE 5
To the distant tropical horizons,
The Princess on the Danube.
