about
A Tolkien based song about the struggle of Men against Orcs for control of the old city of Osgiliath.
This was one of a few songs me and keyboardist Richard Stockdill scrapped from a list of demos that eventually became the backbone of our band Crimson Creatures' debut album. We decided it was more of a "me" song and a bit 'out there' for the style we were going for in Crimson Creatures, so recently I decided to remix and tweak it a tad for a solo release!
Have fun listening to this fantasy rock song!
A host of stars in the skies.
The crossing of the Great Anduin.
In the future a battle lies,
An army of Orcs is man’s ruin.
Faramir commands his forces to retreat,
As Gothmog’s army attacks the west.
Nothing was more certain than defeat,
And yet, the younger brother passed the test.
Osgiliath is where the battle began:
The strategic point between Orc and Man.
The fallen soldier’s stories will be sung,
For the Age of Men will come.
The Fellbeast screech and fly over ahead,
A shadow of death looms over men.
The Nazgul of old kings dead,
Are born from Sauron’s den.
The war for men is nigh,
Minas Tirith is in Sauron’s grasp.
Through Pelennor Fields, you hear the battle cry,
This fight may be their last.
Osgiliath is where the battle began:
The strategic point between Orc and Man.
The fallen soldier’s stories will be sung,
For the Age of Men will come.
